About Bhutan One Health
The Bhutan One Health Portal is the digital implementation of the WHO–FAO–WOAH Tripartite Zoonoses Guide for the Royal Government of Bhutan — uniting human, animal and environmental health under one national surveillance and response system.
Our mission
To enable early detection of zoonotic outbreaks, real-time cross-sector data sharing, and rapid coordinated response — rooted in Bhutan's vision of Gross National Happiness and the harmony between people, animals and the natural environment.
The Tripartite Framework
Built on the WHO–FAO–WOAH Tripartite Zoonoses Guide, the portal brings together the Royal Center for Disease Control (RCDC), the Department of Public Health, the National Center for Animal Health, and partners across government, academia and civil society.
Human Health
Surveillance, vaccination programmes, outbreak response (DoPH, RCDC).
Animal Health
Veterinary surveillance, zoonotic pathogen monitoring (NCAH, MoAL).
Environmental Health
Water quality, climate factors, wildlife interface (Department of Environment).
Governance
The portal is governed by the National One Health Steering Committee, which meets quarterly to review surveillance data, approve risk-assessment methodology, and coordinate cross-sector response. Day-to-day operations are managed by the Department of Public Health, Ministry of Health.
